Samsung Display lights up CES 2025 with next-gen OLED innovations

Samsung Display displayed its roadmap for OLED technology development on January 5, revealing plans to showcase a variety of new OLED products for IT devices and vehicles at the CES 2025 event. Taking place in Las Vegas from January 7 to 10, CES 2025 will feature Samsung’s latest OLED innovations for tablets, laptops, monitors, and automotive displays.

The event showcased numerous groundbreaking products, including an 18.1-inch foldable panel, a new series of displays that can be slid, under-panel camera (UPC) technology for vehicles, and bendable center information displays (CID), all of which made their premiere at the event.

The 18.1-inch foldable OLED, designed for IT applications, can be transformed from a tablet-sized display when fully extended to a compact 13.1-inch laptop-sized screen when folded, providing greater portability. The company is also introducing several slidable OLED panels, including the Slidable Flex Duet, Slidable Flex Solo, and Slidable Flex Vertical, that enable users to freely adjust screen sizes. Samsung Display highlighted that these innovative form factors demonstrate OLED’s unique value in next-generation IT devices.

In the automotive industry, Samsung Display is showcasing products designed to enhance both the functionality and aesthetic value of vehicles.

The UPC technology positions a camera under the display, upgrading driver monitoring systems while maintaining a slim look. The flexible CID adjusts to fit various dashboard designs, and the large head-up display (HUD) replaces traditional instrument clusters with a crisp, interactive screen. Samsung Display showcased these innovations as examples of how OLED can seamlessly balance style and functionality in vehicle displays.

In addition to this, Samsung Display will also be unveiling its 2025 lineup of QD-OLED products. Among these, QD-OLED panels for TVs stands out as being ultra-bright, reaching up to 4,000 nits, and high-resolution panels suited for gaming and professional monitors. According to the company, these new products excel in color accuracy and contrast, allowing for an exceptional viewing experience.
