On Friday, January 3, a Russian submarine was detected by the Portuguese military in “its exclusive economic zone”.
A Russian warship was approaching the coast of Brittany.
In September, the submarine was identified traveling in the opposite direction, heading towards the Mediterranean. It was reportedly making its way towards Tartous, a Syrian port, which is home to a significant Russian base.
It is worth noting that Russian warships have been commonly seen in French waters. The Novorossiysk had previously been identified off the coast of Brittany in October of last year.
