It’s being reported that Ukraine is on the cusp of deploying a small-scale missile that could be highly effective against Russian drones flying at relatively low heights.
According to Interesting Engineering, the city of Kyiv is now employing the Mark 1 missile, developed by the Estonian company Frankenburg Technologies.
According to Global Defense News, the company’s CEO was quoted as saying that the mini missile “can engage targets at altitudes of up to two kilometers and features an AI-driven situational awareness system to aid in threat detection and targeting.”
If testing is successful, the Mark 1 missiles could be quickly adopted by Ukrainian forces. The company is currently producing tens of missiles weekly and plans to increase production to approximately 100 missiles per week by the end of the third quarter.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Estonia has consistently offered military aid to Ukraine, which has been under attack from Russia since February 2022.
