From submarine voyages to stays in Antarctic ‘sky pods’ and zero-gravity flights: The holiday company set to train guests for trips to OUTER SPACE

  • Orbite plans to offer a unique set of programs to get individuals ready for space

  • Guests will reside in high-end accommodations located at one of five designated bases

Trips to the distant unknown are on the verge of becoming more accessible than ever before.

Recognizing this need, a company will soon initiate a global rollout of holiday hubs where travelers will receive comprehensive training for their first intergalactic vacation.

To prepare space travelers, it plans to offer exclusive packages from submersible voyages to space culinary lessons.

United States, each offering a different space-themed training experience. All the camps will be fully operational later this year.

A eight-day journey to the South Pole at Antarctica is available for $215,000/ £173,000 per person. This expedition will include activities such as a glacier hike and exploration of the outdoors, providing guests with a unique and challenging experience that mimics life in space, due to Antarctica’s isolated and extreme environment.

And the camp claims to offer an experience that’s so close to ‘feeling like you’re off the planet without leaving Earth’.

A high-end vacation destination.

Guests enrolled on the Astronaut Orientation course (starting at $29,500 / £23,768) at Orbite’s new Florida campus, will participate in virtual reality spacecraft adventures and test an ‘microgravity’ aircraft to simulate the sensation of weightlessness.

On the final day of the four-night stay, guests will take a seat inside a spacecraft cabin and “will experience actual acceleration forces firsthand”.

Orbite’s Orientation for Astronauts is led by Chief Instructor, Brienna Rommes, who has trained over 750 commercial astronauts for space travel.

While individuals need to be in good health to participate in the programs, the trips are still designed to feel like a vacation.

Orbite says to MailOnline: “Space Experiences represent high-end travel holidays that combine space education and hands-on learning to make space travel an enjoyable and immersive introduction.”

‘Our highly rigorous Astronaut Training programmes are set in a luxurious five-star resort, allowing every participant to feel like they’re experiencing a holiday.’

Does Orbite think space tourism has the potential to become widely popular?

Its co-founders, Jason Andrews and Nicholas Gaume, strongly believe so.

They told MailOnline: ‘We’re just beginning to explore this industry. As the infrastructure for commercial space travel expands, for instance with SpaceX’s Starship, the cost of space travel will decrease, and flights will occur more frequently, making it possible for a much larger number of people to explore space at a lower overall cost.’
