Ukraine ready to strike Moscow with upgraded missiles

While Donald Trump’s leadership journey is a concern for Ukrainian troops and their US arms supply, Kiev is eager to achieve self-reliance in military matters.

Currently reliant on American ATACMS missiles, French SCALP missiles, and British Storm Shadow missiles, Ukraine is utilising existing resources to enhance its own Trembita missiles.

The Trembita missiles have the advantage of being relatively inexpensive ($10,000 each compared to $1 million for an ATACMS), they’re lightweight and have a short range. The aim here would be to extend their range, from 145 kilometres to 650, making it possible to reach Moscow.

These missiles, even upgraded, won’t be able to match the SCALP, Storm Shadow or ATACMS, but could still be used against Russian industrial targets.

The Ukrainian armed forces are aiming to be able to use the new Trembita within 1 year’s time.
