At least 126 people killed in China 7.1 magnitude earthquake

At least 126 people were killed following a powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake striking Western China.

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake affected parts of the Himalayas in the Tibetan autonomous region, causing homes to be reduced to rubble and many people are unaccounted for under the debris.

Professor Hongfeng Yang from the University of Hong Kong says the area is susceptible to earthquakes because of “tectonic activity”.
